Agricultural Volunteer Work in the Mountains of Nicaragua

Exchanging knowledge, experience, and culture through volunteer work.

In Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua, farming is the basis of economy, diet and culture. Guardabarranco seeks to cultivate a deeper connection between small rural communities and the land they farm along by encouraging the use of permaculture techniques.

A demonstration permaculture farm, agricultural immersion experience, education program, and coffee harvest volunteer program create a venue for people of the region and volunteers to share their cultures and skills while expanding their horizons.

Out of a desire to not depend upon donations, our work is supported through our direct-trade sales of local coffee as well as by providing community tours, a 5-day course directed towards industry professionals, and a 10-day course for anyone wanting to learn more about the production process.
